12 BEST VALUE REGIONAL SOCIAL ROUNDS

PORT FAIRY GL

Port Fairy, Victoria

Green fees: $59 (Sun-Fri), $69 (Sat).

Course designer Mike Clayton once described Port Fairy as the best value round of the golf in the world.

That was more than 20 years ago when the green fee was closer to $30. Now that the green is almost doubled, it hasn’t changed the fact that a round at Port Fairy – which is ranked in the top-10 public access courses in Australia – remains excellent value.

This wonderful links course winds its way through unspoilt sand dunes and provides spectacular Southern Ocean views, all just a little more than a three-hour drive west of Melbourne.
