The only reoccurring nightmare I’ve ever had is about exams. You must know the one? It’s where you haven’t done any revision and just know you’re going to mess up. Forty years on that still wakes me up in a cold sweat.

So, full sympathy to all the kids facing their exams this summer, one of the most stressful experiences you’ll ever go through in life.

But it is that experience that teaches you so many things – discipline, achievement, disappointment and the fact that life can at times be a bit of a b***h.
