As the viral recipe creator returns with a book dedicated to all things sweet, we asked the Brooklyn-based chef for her best baking tips and foodie hit list

Alison Roman’s recipes are so beloved, they go by a singular name: The Cookie, The Stew, The Pasta. Her bestselling cookbooks ( and ) encapsulate the type of laidback, casual approach to hosting we can only aspire to. And her devoted YouTube followers hang on her every word. Now, the chef-turned-recipe-wizard is back with a new book, and she’s turned her culinary expertise to desserts (considering she started out as a pastry chef, you know you’re is packed with the sort of throw-together biscuits (the birthday cookies were a huge hit in the office), cakes and sticky fruit tarts that even a novice baker will be able to put their spin on. So we asked Roman for her advice on raising your dessert game and her “perfect” London restaurant.
