Try tai chi

There’s a reason why tai chi is known as ‘meditation in motion’. Originating in China as a martial art, it was developed as a form of self-defence. But it has now become a popular form of gentle exercise that has plenty of benefits for both the body and mind, and which has practitioners around the world.

‘At a basic level, you can escape your day-to-day). Regular practice of the controlled forwards, backwards and sidewards movements helps to improve flexibility, overall body strength and balance – even helping to prevent falls, research suggests*. ‘What’s more, tai chi can be practised by anyone of all ages or physical ability,’ says Pauline – meaning it’s an activity that you can do into your senior years.
