As a boy growing up in Sydney, I loved to feed the baby kangaroo my family hand raised.
Aged 14, I’d sit in the backyard with my joey, Roo, before he skipped away across the garden.
A shy kid, I’d lose myself in books and playing with Roo, and my pet chooks and rabbits.
By 17 I’d come out of my shell, and group squash on a Tuesday became my favourite day of the week.
