Irating stickers on restaurant windows are not a universal thing. The best restaurant in Nakhon Sawan, central Thailand, almost exclusively serves the locals. It has a tin roof, no walls, low plastic patio seats and homemade tables. In one corner, crouched on the floor, is a lady butchering a recently-deceased chicken. In another is a similarly crouched lady washing the plates under a tap and over a drain. All the food is cooked in the open kitchen over a homemade range. At the end of the night the plastic plates are your bill.
