A strong immune function is fuelled by nutritious food. Limit ready meals and unhealthy treats, and aim for a balanced diet with good hydration. ‘Eat at least five to seven fruit and vegetable servings a day, and choose fish, eggs and pulses over processed meat products,’ says nutritionist Suzie Sawyer.
✣ Eat zinc
Zinc plays a role in immune health as it’s important for the development of white blood cells, which helps the body to fight infection, says GP Dr Nisa Aslam. Good sources
