Overcoming fresh injury, mental blocks and severe, gut-wrenching fear was all a huge part of accomplishing the impossible. We had a one-on-one discussion with Harry to give fans a clear understanding of how mentally debilitating it felt leading up to that triple flip ‘fight night'.
Nitro World Games came to Brisbane, Qld, which ideally set the stage for the first triple backflip attempts since Josh Sheehan in 2015. Seven years ago, the triple flip was only made possible by Sheehan having such a gigantic take-off ramp and landing ramp (plus having the guts to hit a jump that size). Jayo Archer and Harry Bink had worked hard for many years and especially in recent months developing a ramp suitable for a stadium-floor setting.
A smaller ramp meant a faster spin and almost impossible inertia. At this phase of preparation, it was completely unknown if it was even remotely possible to ride away from a rotation that fast.
