BEHIND THE QUILT
SHINE LIKE A DIAMOND
“There is an endless variety of designs you can create using the basic Lone Star. Of course, there is the classic one-block Lone Star quilt, but the block is so much more versatile than that. I love making these partial Lone Stars, which make circles rather than making eight-pointed stars. In this quilt, I have added smaller single diamond Lone Stars to sit in-between the blocks. To make assembly easier and to avoid Y-seams, the quilt top is pieced on point – in diagonal rows – the whole quilt is then rotated through 45° and, as if by magic, the mini stars sit between the larger circle Lone Stars to create a repeating design.”
