HOW TO FIND GENDER JOY IN 2023

If you have been feeling low or dysphoric lately, I hope these words help you to cultivate more euphoria in your life. But where do you begin when trying to do so? As Elliot (they/ them), a UK-based transmasc non-binary person tells me: “A lot of the time when I was trying to feel less dysphoric, I was stressing and thinking about all the things that made me feel bad, instead of putting some focus on the things that made me feel good. There are a lot of things that made me feel joy and euphoria, and it was actually putting more time into them that overall brought me the most gender joy.”

So this year, I’m setting the resolution to shift my focus from the things that spark discomfort, dysphoria or depression onto the things that make me feel content, euphoric and at ease. It’s by no means an easy task, but if you fancy joining in on the endeavour,
