that's life!

Welcome

any years ago, we had a psychic column inReaders would write in with their questions and one of our team of psychics would give them a reading. It was some monthsteam is so pleased to be launching a new campaign called Let’s Talk. We want to encourage more open conversations around mental health and suicide. It was actually our deputy editor, Sarah, who came up with the idea. ‘There is just so much heartache caused by suicide,’ said Sarah. ‘I’m gladcan do our bit to help get more people talking about their mental health. There shouldn’t be any stigma about having depression or anxiety and we really hope that our campaign helps to end that.’ Our senior writer Lisa has been inspired by the incredible people she has talked with for this campaign. On page 14, Terry Cornick shares his very personal journey dealing with his own mental health. He’d suffered depression and anxiety for years before he opened up to his wife, Carolina, and then their GP. The next crucial step was talking with his mates in the pub. Terry was blown away as others revealed their own struggles. He realised he had to do something. His charity, Mr Perfect, is the result. You’ll have to read the story to find out how it got that name. But it’s such a testament to Terry’s strength and determination to help others that Mr Perfect now runs 300 barbecues around the country, where men can talk and listen to each other. It’s never been more important that all of us – men and women – start talking.
