Gone fishing

It all started with a passion for fishing that laser clinic owner Andrew Hannay inherited from his father.

“There’s nothing I like more than standing on the edge of a beautiful expanse of water with a rod in my hand,” he says. “When I bought this property, my aim was to build a dam where I could fish whenever I wanted.”

At that stage, the 1ha property was just bush and blackjacks with a shallow pond the size of a large swimming pool that dried up in winter. An old house on the property was fixed up and rented out to help offset costs. But before he could build the dam, he had to sink a borehole.
