THROWN LIGHT CLUSTER

Before you begin:

This project will be a good exercise in repeat throwing off the hump.

It doesn’t matter if each shade is slightly different once thrown –a slight variation adds to the visual interest. However, the more you throw, the better you’ll get at repeating the shape more accurately, and it’s always best to throw more than you need for the cluster, so you have a selection to choose from when you’re putting them together.

You can work directly from the wheel head for this project because each light shade will be cut from the top of the mass of clay.

although you’ll find it easier to work from the hump if the entire mass is centred correctly to begin with, in reality, only a section large enough to make the individual shade actually needs
