CBG Workshop Hints & tips FROM HUTCH'S WORKSHOP

A NICE BUT NON-STANDARD BSA B40 found its way onto the workshop bench for a bit of resurrection recently. As requested, a new alternator for a 12-volt conversion, along with a solid state regulator/rectifier was fitted; the carb was also pulled out for cleaning but found to be well past its useful life and also marked for replacement.

The points assembly was removed in readiness for replacement with electronic ignition, and this also necessitated the removal of the outer timing/gearbox cover for access and removal of the LT ignition wires.
