I’d estimate that 99% of scooter shops fall into one of three categories: they’re either the result of a long-term enthusiast turning his hobby into a business, a long-running family affair or a motorcycle dealer who’s decided to try their hand at diversification. It’s the latter group that usually causes the most angst among scooterists. A lack of understanding for the product combined with an outsider’s view of ‘what sells’ can produce some disappointing customer experiences. However, it’s the remaining 1% that can often be the most interesting and that’s where Charlie Slack, his sister Miranda, all-round tech wizard Stephen and mechanic Steve come swirling into our orbit.
