There’s no point beating around the bush, I’ve been equally as apprehensive about this part of the project as I have been looking forward to it. Everyone likes a big-bore kit, what’s not to like, but I‘m a two-stroke man to the core and this will be my first foray into swapping over a four-stroke kit. I’m not anticipating anything beyond the scope of my capabilities, but as it’s a first attempt, slow and sure will win the day. I’ll just have to plod through it methodically, learning each new step of the process as we go.
The first job, though, will be to drop the engine out of the frame in order to get access to the top end. I’ve had a good root around the various components, and as far as I can tell we are looking at a throttle cable, a fuel line, about half a dozen block connectors and a sneaky earth cable on the cylinder head.
