David Little’s quest to build a modern take on the Group 4 Escort got rapidly out of hand and the car you see here is the result — the Zakham Engineering Mk2.

To say that it’s easy to become blasé about Mk2 Escorts would be overselling things somewhat, but it’s undeniably the case that the combination of my job and my passion for rallying at a national level means that I’m privy to a veritable parade of stunning, feature-worthy examples of Ford’s famous 1970s saloon. Indeed, so much of my career has been spent knee-deep in Escort nomenclature that it can sometimes be difficult to see the wood for the trees. Or, to put it in appropriate terms, the Atlas for the English axles.

Being fortunate enough to have seen and written about so many Escorts has at least granted me perspective enough to appreciate those truly next-level examples, however, and the example shown here most definitely fits that bill.
