Nose: Sweet earthiness, butter cream icing with a hint of creosote. Then come spiced rye toast, sage and nutmeg.

Palate: Dry and spicy peat, with some almond flakes and peach creeping in. A hint of sage, green peppers and white peppery heat.

Finish: Medium to long, with that green stalky note lingering.

Comments: It manages some complexity, while also having some notes that dominate the flavour profile.

Nose: Wood and coal ashes in the hearth. Capsicum and eucalyptus. Some vanilla pod and pear drop. Burnt toast. Quince jelly. With time, ripe strawberry notes.

Palate: Very light. Wood smoke, pear drop, and instant coffee with condensed milk. Some allspice. Meringue with blackberries.

Finish: Long and ashy, with digestive biscuit. Comments: A pleasantly smoky, somewhat old-school blended malt.
