The club was formed on 6th November 1924 and has operated continuously since then. Meetings were initially at the Bondi-Waverley School of Arts up to the late 1950s. The venue for meetings then changed to the Randwick Literary Institute, and remained there until the 1970s at which time several hotel and club venues were used before moving back to the Randwick Literary Institute. The author of this article joined the club in December 1964 after moving from northern NSW, and it was common for members, following the general meetings, to wander up Clovelly Road to the Duke of Gloucester Hotel for a quick beer before going home. Most members in those days rode their bikes to the meetings. ESMCC is approaching its 100th anniversary in 2024 and it’s hoped all members past and present will be invited to a celebratory function. ESMCC claims to be the longest continuously running motorcycle club in Australia. Other motorcycle clubs may claim to have formed prior to ESMCC, but unlike those other clubs that entered a hiatus during the World War II years, a handful of older ESMCC members
