Fears abound over looming global food crisis

The global grains and oilseeds market has been burdened by supply woes for the past three seasons due to a persistent La Niña weather system, which has resulted in drought in some key producing regions. The Russia-Ukraine war has also placed immense strain on the market.

Combined, these factors have led to high prices in grain, cooking oil, fertiliser and energy, stoking fears of a global food crisis.
