Looking down at the black swirling water below, I shivered. ‘Are you sure we’ll be alright, Dad?’ asked my little girl Kira, nine, her teeth chattering.

‘Of course, baby,’ I replied. ‘I promised you, didn’t I?’

‘Yes, Dad,’ she said, clinging to me tightly.

I couldn’t believe this was happening. One minute, we’d been driving along chatting. The next, we were fighting for our lives.
