THE BEST OF BIZARRE BRITAIN

BOG SNORKELLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

27-28 August 2022

› Held annually at the town of Llanwrtyd Wells in mid-Powys, Wales, this unique event attracts around 150 competitors to swim a muddy trench cut into the Waen Rhydd bog, as fast as they can. Most people just go along to watch the fun, but if you fancy joining the ‘elite athletes’ and taking the plunge, you’re welcome to do so.

Fancy dress is encouraged (we would recommend a towel, too!), and there are food stalls, a bouncy castle, live music and real ale and cider. The championships take place on the Sunday, with the Bog Triathlon on the Saturday. Entry is £15
