March Brings Springtime Hints of Numismatic Rebirth from Pandemic
My March experiences were a rather unusual and interesting mix. Just one out-of-town trip was involved – but lots of activity. The trip was to Colorado Springs, Colo., to attend the American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) National Money Show (NMS) and participate in its winter board meeting.
The second Wednesday morning of the month found my travels to Colorado Springs getting under way shortly after 6 a.m. with a drive to the Appleton airport for a scheduled 8:26 a.m. departure to Denver. My air travels have been originating out of Appleton almost exclusively for the past 30 years or so, almost invariably on United flights. This year’s first three departures, however, have been on different airlines: Delta to Orlando for FUN in early January, then American to New York City for the NYINC and now United. Emerging from the era of COVID travel impediments, travel routings appear to have changed dramatically.
My United Express flight to Denver did not get airborne until shortly after 9 a.m. A weight and balance adjustment and de-icing of the aircraft were required given icy conditions in the area.
