Astrology for The New Age
Is it, dear readers of the Northern Hemisphere, warm enough for you yet? And for those of you who live in that other hemisphere, have a little patience: spring will soon arrive and you can go gallivanting down to the beaches for some early fun in the Sun.
Before launching into this month’s inner-to-outer discussion, let’s do a bit of astrological housekeeping, starting with the retrograde movement, by month’s end, of all of the planets from Jupiter on out. Out of step as usual, Uranus, always the renegade, waits until August 24 to join the party. What does this mean? Outer planets often tell us about external or collective events, something we all found out somewhat recently when the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of January 2020 heralded the start of COVID pandemic. Such conjunctions have a long-standing connection with various microorganisms infiltrating millions of human immune systems, particularly when they occur in Capricorn.1
Okay, so outer planets have a connection to collective events. But, I can almost hear you asking, “what about when they turn retrograde?” What, indeed? The outer planets turn retrograde as they move toward their opposition to the Sun, while Mercury and Venus do so when they reach their maximum distance from the Sun, as seen from our vantage. Oppositions – and even quincunxes, though less obviously or consistently so – often manifest through projections. Connecting this observation with those above about outer planets and collective events suggests that we shouldn’t consider collective or external as unconnected to the collective or collective awareness – and thus with the awareness of individuals.
