You will need

■ Six (6) or more fabrics – One (1) fat eighth of each

■ Background fabric – 19in x 19in

■ Thread*

■ A chalk-based marking pencil

■ Freezer paper – 9in x 9in

■ Fusible web – 1yd

■ Greaseproof paper or appliqué pressing sheet

Finished size

■ 17½in x 17½in

Notes

■ *Each shape will be outlined with Blanket Stitch, which could be toning or contrasting with the fabrics. More than one shade of thread could be used if desired. If stitching by hand, choose a thread that is slightly thicker than machine thread but not too thick to use on closely woven cottons like batiks. If you intend to stitch by machine, regular machine thread and even variegated thread is ideal.
