Ulua and Pāpio

Giant Trevally and Trevally under 10 lbs

Ulua would likely be voted Hawai‘i’s favorite game fish because they are tough fighters that can be caught from shore and grow to giant sizes (well over a hundred pounds). Equally popular are the smaller trevally, under 10 pounds, all species of which share the common name of pāpio when this size. These fish are a delight for light-tackle fishermen and a delectable treat for seafood lovers.
