FOR A SERIOUS BOTANICAL ARTIST, being included in the Royal Horticultural Society Art and Photography Show is a bonafide indication that you are operating at the top of your game. After completing a rigorous application process, if your art is deemed of a high enough standard to qualify, you then have five years to produce a themed portfolio of six pieces. The exhibited pieces, from all over the world, are then judged against RHS standards and may go on to be awarded one of the show’s prestigious medals.
For this year’s event, a diverse range of subjects will be presented by participants ranging from plants that have grown on the sites of the Great East Japan Tsunami to the Rosulate Violas of the Andes. In addition, native British trees and hedgerow plants will complement illustrations of beautiful garden flowers. “We are thrilled to be exhibiting some of the most exciting botanical art and photography at Saatchi Gallery again this year,” says Charlotte Brooks, Art Curator of the RHS. “The work submitted has been of an extremely high standard and we are excited for these artists and photographers to have the opportunity to showcase their work and delight new audiences.”
