BABY GHAST SHARK SIGHTED

Scientists believe they have spotted a rare baby ghost shark off the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island. The team from the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research were studying populations of hoki fish when they discovered the newly-hatched creature, also known as a chimaera. It is suspected the ghost shark recently hatched at a depth of about 1.2 kilometres on the Chatham Rise, an area of ocean floor. According to research team member, Dr. Brit Finucci, other names for the animal include rat fish, spook fish and rabbit fish.
