One relatively early Lambretta concession was that run by the brothers Fred and Bill Albon at 119, Ripple Road, Barking, Essex (now East London). The exact start date of this business is unfortunately lost to history, but the shop was a thriving Lambretta sales and servicing business by at least the early months of 1958.
That year, probably unknown to the world of scootering, proved to be the high point in scooter sales pretty much across the globe and sales would slowly slide from then on.
CONCESSION FACTS
Being granted a Lambretta concession was not just a matter of signing up. Lambretta Concessionaires were quite strict as to who might be thought suitable and laid down a number of rules for would-be applicants, comprising the manner the associated service workshop was set up (including the tools), the training of the mechanics at Lambretta Concessionaires and the level of spares stocked. Only when these aspects were satisfactorily in place would the concession be granted.
