RALLY REVIEW 2021
PART THREE
ROAD RUN HONOURS STEAM FAIR
The popular Shrewsbury Steam Rally was celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021, organised by the County of Salop Steam Society. The actual two-day event was cancelled many months earlier because of the covid pandemic. Nowadays, the event takes place at Onslow Park on the outskirts of Shrewsbury over the August Bank Holiday weekend, but the organisers were keen that this milestone anniversary should not pass by without some form of celebration.
The answer was to hold a series of road runs, with society members bringing their vehicles to Forton Airfield where steam engines, cars, commercials, and tractors all set out on the road over two days to celebrate the society’s 60th anniversary. There were over 60 tractors taking part in this great event and it turned out to be an interesting, enjoyable weekend from the tractor perspective.
