The ‘have a go’ attitude of ours has led to the creation of some very interesting contraptions. Some are wonderfully innovative, while others fit firmly in the crazy world of Heath Robinson. There is one contraption residing in tractor form in the dark depths of the Welsh countryside, and this quirky machine is causing the new owner, Lloyd, to scratch his head, and wonder, is it remarkable? Or is it bonkers, and should it be preserved as it is, or ‘put right’?

At the heart of this contraption is a standard-issue Fordson E27N. A tractor often, rather wrongfully, overlooked as being a stop-gap tractor, built during the hardship that came at the end of the Second World War, when resources were scant, and tractor manufacturers had little new to offer.
Ford needed a new tractor, the old Model N was small and outdated and while it had served us well during wartime, we needed to move on, but crippling war-time shortages meant Ford was forced to adapt their existing Fordson Model N. The best thing they could come up with at the time
