Meeting Gemma Nichols

Gemma Nichols, the other half of the Hench Herbivore phenomenon, is petite and pretty and might just be the healthiest looking person I have ever met. But it has not always been this way. Gemma battled her way through years of illness searching for a diagnosis and then subsequent years battling to regain her health.

“In my 20s, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune thyroid disease. I imagine I was born with the gene as it runs in my family but what switched it on at such a young age, was stress, unhealthy food and my life of partying with drugs and alcohol. To be honest, if I hadn’t gone down that path of indulgence then I might not be vegan today.” You can see why Gemma and Paul make such an incredible team as Gemma’s kind eyes give way to such profound honesty.
