Stocking stitch: Knit on RS, purl on WS, knit in every round (rnd).

Band of bobbles, stitch count divisible by 8: * 1 bobble (= work 5 sts into 1 st = k1, p1 alternately, turn the work, p5, turn, k5, turn, p5, turn, k5 tog), k7 ret *, repeat from * to *.

Front and back worked together on a circular knitting needle up to the underarm

Using needles size 4 mm and taupe yarn, cast on 122 (134) 142 sts and work rib in the rnd. Set a stitch marker at both side seams = at start of rnd and after 61 (67) 71 sts.

When rib measures 2.5 cm, continue working in stocking stitch. When the work measures 19 (20) 21 cm, leave sts on a stitch holder.

Sleeves

Using needles size 4 mm and taupe yarn, cast on 39 (41) 43 sts and work rib. When rib measures 2.5 cm, continue in stocking stitch and inc 1 st on both sides of the 15th (13th) 11th row from the rib. Repeat incs in every 14th row twice (in every 10th row 4 times) in every 10th row 5 times = 45 (51) 55 sts. When the sleeve measures 19 (21) 23 cm, leave the work on a stitch holder.

Using taupe yarn, work stocking stitch in the rnd. Knit the edge sts together in the 1st rnd = 208 (232) 248 sts.

Set a sm at the sts knitted together = raglan.

At each raglan seam, dec as follows: k3tog with middle st on top (slip st before marked st and marked st as if to k2 tog, k1, pass both slipped sts over the knitted st at the same time) = dec 8 in the rnd. Repeat dec in alternate rnds a total of 6 (7) 8 times = 160 (176) 184 sts. Next rnd: Switch to raw white yarn and work the band of bobbles.

Then continue working in stocking stitch.

Dec a further 20 sts evenly in every 6th rnd 3 times (22 sts evenly in every 8th rnd twice and then in the foll 6th rnd once) 23 sts evenly in every 8th rnd 3 times = 100 (110) 115 sts.

When you have worked 20 (24) 26) rnds in raw white, leave the centre 16 (18) 20 sts unknitted at centre front (neckline).

Work turning rows, leaving a further 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once unknitted for the neckline on both sides. At the same time, dec 11 (14) 14 sts evenly in every 4th row twice = 78 (82) 87 sts (including the unknitted stitches “waiting” at the neckline). Work 2 more rs. Then work in the rnd.
