Q&A SHORE ANGLING

Q About 20 years ago I re-eyed one of my very old glass rods with some stainless eyes and they are still in perfect condition to this day even though it has been on its side more than once. One of my more recent (and dearer) rods fell over not long after I purchased it and destroyed the liners of two eyes. So the question is what is the benefit of expensive eyes with liners against stainless eyes that are as smooth as silk. MIKE WILSDON, ST. ANNES
