KICK OFF: How is the injury recovery process coming along?
Lebohang Maboe: I’m moving close to the final stages of my rehabilitation, and I’m working tirelessly. I am close to getting involved in a friendly to have a feel of how far I am. I don’t think I’m far off from the last stage of my rehab. There is hope that I will be available for selection before the end of the season.
From averaging 42 appearances in your first three seasons at Mamelodi Sundowns to having to deal with a knee injury that is now threatening to keep you out for almost the whole campaign. How are you digesting all of this?
“IT IS MENTALLY DRAINING TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED THE WHOLE TIME.”
I have had a lot of time to think about this and it’s been tough. It hasn’t been easy coming back from such a career threatening injury but at the same time one of the most important things I had to do was make peace with what happened and focus on what I have at hand.
