Dialling in to Gabriel (better known as Gab) Waller in Los Angeles is instantly, strikingly, like talking to a good girlfriend. It might be her Australian accent – she is Rockhampton-born-and-raised – or that she’s honest, not trying to oversell the glamour of her recent big move in September last year from Sydney to the US. “Would you believe it? It’s pouring,” she says with a laugh, speaking six weeks after arrival. “Everyone doesn’t know what to do with themselves because it’s so unusual.”
