Retro with a bite

BMW’s boxer engine is legendary. Much like Harley is always associated with V-twins, and MotoGuzzi with transverse V-twins, BMW is best known for the boxer twin. And out of all the boxer twins in BMW’s current range – the GS, RT, RS, R and even the big R18 – it is arguably the R nineT that is the purest expression of what that engine can do, and how it feels to ride. I say that because out of all of them, the R nineT is the most stripped back and raw take on what the boxer twin is about. There are no compromises for touring, not for adventure riding, not for going fast. The R nineT can do all of that, but it doesn’t go out of its way to focus on any particular direction.
