or most of us, there’s a car in our past that we wish we hadn’t sold. Occasionally there’s a whole list of cars; the ones that got away, which either had to be moved on for whatever reason, or simply slipped through our fingers somehow. An emotional connection is often the crux of it all, and when the car in question is rare and unusual in itself, the yearning can grow ever stronger. Take this Capri, for instance: registered in April 1978, it’s one of the earliest Mk3s, sporting the slatted front grille and sawtooth taillights but carrying over the Mk2 interior. And of course it would be four years before the fuel-injected Cologne 2.8 made an appearance, so this golden wonder rumbles to the beat of the venerable 3-litre Essex V6. A formidable package, and one which evidently struck a chord with its owner, Ste Brandreth: “I owned this car between 1988-1990,”
