■ Fabric 1 (solid dark-blue) – 9½yds

■ FPP templates (see Template section) – Thirty-two (32) copies of Unit A (Small Star), twenty (20) of Unit B1 (Large Star), twenty (20) of Unit B2 (Large Star), sixteen (16) of Unit C1 (Tree) and sixteen (16) of Unit C2 (Tree)

Quilt layout
1 The quilt is made with three (3) different blocks – a Small Star, a Large Star and a Tree. All blocks are 10½in square (unfinished). See Fig 1 for the quilt layout. The Tree block is in three (3) different colourways – mauves, greens and blues. See Fig 2 for the blocks and fabric positions. Blocks are arranged on point in the centre, with pieced triangular units filling in the corners and a narrow outer border framing the design. The blocks are made with FPP using five (5) templates: Unit A (Small Star), Unit B1 (Large Star), Unit B2 (Large Star), Unit C1 (Tree) and Unit C2 (Tree) – see Fig 3.
Cutting out
2 It’s more economical to pre-cut the fabrics for FPP (sizes also shown on the templates). Copy the templates so you have the amount noted inlist. Cut out each template with extra paper past the solid outer line.
