CRAB CLOSURE
The migration of millions of crabs has caused the closure of highways and roads on an Australian island. Every autumn, the red crustaceans of Christmas Island migrate from their land-located homes into the ocean. To ensure protection of the travelling animals, some roads are shut down and others are fitted with special bridges that the shellfish use to further avoid traffic. Parks Australia shared videos on Facebook showing the crabs crawling alongside concerned pedestrians during the big migration.
