Just before the UK went into lockdown in March 2020, my husband returned home to find me drinking alone – again. When I told him I was on my second glass of wine and he discovered it was actually my second bottle, he gave me an ultimatum – if I didn’t stop drinking, I had to leave. I was a 36-year-old mother of two, but at that moment, after 15 years of denial, I admitted to myself I was also an alcoholic.
