Nearly two years since the pandemic first hit the U.S., Indigenous Americans and Alaska Natives continue to be disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
According to the Indian Health Service, Native Americans have more than 3.5 times the infection rate and are four times more “persisting racial inequity and historical trauma” as to why the health and socioeconomic disparities exist among tribal communities.
