The doctor will see you now

Doctor, all-round handsome man and Drag Race UK Brit Crew member. Most of us would be content with just one of those accolades, but Tony Fordham manages to be all of them at once. And he happens to be super lovely, too! The doctor, who’s also been in the army, makes it all sound so easy. Here, he discusses getting into gynaecology, working during the pandemic, exercise tips and chatting to RuPaul.

Did you always want to be a doctor?

When I was younger, I wanted to be a vet. I was really into wildlife and David Attenborough. Then, as I went through school, I was more into science and went to medical school.

What made you want to become a gynaecologist?

I started training as a paediatric surgeon. I was also in the army throughout medical school, and carried that on for a bit. Although I became a children’s surgeon, I didn’t love that side of it. Then I discovered gynaecology, and I really enjoy working with women —
