I am often guilty of not fully appreciating the world around me and that includes when I’m ferreting. I sometimes become so engrossed in the work itself, rather than switching off to enjoy the company of good friends in the field and the special places I visit. In recent months I’ve decided to improve on this — life is too short. It is crucial not to get caught up worrying about numbers when you are ferreting. I’m there to do a job but I also love what I do and that’s about the quality of experiences I have, rather than the size of the bag.
