‘Please, don’t take my baby!’

Stirring from my sleep, a flurry of giggles sounded from the baby monitor.

‘Who’s a good little boy?’ my boyfriend Michael, then 20, cooed.

Our baby Harry was only 3 months old. Yet while we were both exhausted by nappy changes and night feeds, life seemed perfect.

Michael was my childhood sweetheart. We’d fallen in love at college a few years earlier – and while it was a shock when I fell pregnant young, we were excited to start a family together.

From the moment Harry arrived, Michael had been a doting, hands-on daddy.

‘We’re so lucky to have you,’ I grinned
