he excavator business at Lincoln traces its roots back to 1857 when a 22-year-old enterprising Joseph Ruston became an equal partner in the firm Burton & Proctor which was already established in Lincoln. That same year Ruston purchased Burton’s share, and the new firm became known as Rus ton, Proctor & Co.
