As I put the phone down, something suddenly clicked.
‘That’s it,’ I said to my wife Jill, 60.
‘What’s it?’ she asked, bemused by my outburst.
‘That was the practice nurse,’ I went on.
‘She said if I carry on drinking the way I do, then I’ll end up in hospital with serious liver issues.’
