“Pest management has always been a challenge that durian farmers face.”
This issue is usually faced by durian owners whose orchards are located in remote areas far from the cities. Generally, these durian orchards have two similarities:
1: Unplanned planting of a variety of durian trees
2: Majority are old trees
Based on observations, this is because old durian farmers who planted these trees decades ago did not adopt the current commercial planting techniques. Thus, there was no one specific target durian variety planned and planted compared to the new durian orchards which places importance on planting the Musang King variety.
