Why are so many men dying?

Male suicide is at its highest rate for 20 years, and, despite Government promises to bring mental-health services in line with physical services by 2020, we are still facing a spiralling crisis. The Office for National Statistics said men accounted for three-quarters of suicide deaths registered in 2019 – 4,303 men, compared with 1,388 women.

So why are we losing so many men to suicide? And is there more the Government, as well as us as individuals, can do to support the men we love? Woman’s Own investigates.
