RACE RIVALS ARE CAUGHT IN A RICH WEBB AT DONINGTON PARK

Rich Webb’s Hayabusa Turbo-engined Caterham claimed a double victory in the Magnificent Sevens category at Donington Park.

Webb took the lead of the opening race from Ben Simonds, whose CSR would eventually retire, at Roberts on lap five, but Tim Davis – up from row three in his C400 – took the lead at Old Hairpin eight laps later before immediately making his mandatory stop.Alas, it was slightly too short and he was penalised 30s, making his final-lap move on Webb at Redgate to take the win on the road academic.

John Cutmore’s Spire RB7 was also penalised – for missing the pit window – dropping it from third to 11th. Webb was untroubled in winning the shorter, safety car-disrupted, second race.

Steve Simpson’s Peugeot 206 was the beneficiary in the Tin Tops race when the Honda Civic of Andrew Windmill, which had been in control almost throughout, ran out of fuel. With
